Throwback to a 2022 fave, Baby Shark!

I always seem to get emotional when it’s time to post about my time at the @thescatteredseeds market. Maybe it’s because I’m coming off many 16 hour work days to make it happen or maybe it’s because the experience of seeing all of that hard work bring joy and smiles right in front of me.

I work on my virtual orders until a couple of days before market so all of my prep work must be done on weekends and late nights. This makes for an absolutely exhausting time leading up to the event but so worth it. Interacting with my customers directly in person is something I look forward to all year. With so much of my business being online, I miss that human aspect deeply. The hugs, kids flying in the booth from every corner to see their favourite characters on a dress and moms walking by with older daughters reminiscing and saying “when you were little, you loved wearing things like this”. Every time a little leaves wearing her new dress, my heart bursts.

It’s such a fulfilling and magical experience for me.

This was my 3rd year and my space has evolved into this princessy palace of pink and I’m just so happy to be able to make my vision and my dreams become this happy place where kids get to try on dresses and feel beautiful. Where moms and grandma’s can join in on choosing “the one”. And where Birthday & Christmas gifts get purchased quietly when no one is looking.

I wish I had counted but I had so many returning customers say the same things. “She still wears it all the time” “we bought this two years ago and it’s too small and she still wears it!” There’s no better compliment. Seeing those familiar faces and remembering which dress their littles wore directly out of the booth a year or two back were my favourite memories of the weekend. I can’t wait until next year!

Thank you so much to each and every person who dropped compliments and kind words as they passed by and you to everyone who shopped with me and took home special purchases. I can’t tell you enough how much these interactions mean to me and stay with me forever.

And thank you to Emily, Deb and my new friends at the info table for the camaraderie and amazing experience!

The National Day of Movement and its goal to raise awareness for Hip Displaysia in children is unfortunately a day too close to our family.
My daughter Sophia at age 7, received a rare late diagnosis of Bi-Lateral Hip Displaysia and a very severe case. At age 7 & 8 she went through 2 major surgeries each with 4 procedures to try and correct it and spent 8 weeks in a full Spica cast covering most of her body.
To say this was a parent’s nightmare is a tremendous understatement. She is still in recovery and spends her days in a wheelchair. Recovery is long and challenging. These last 8 months have been a phase of motherhood I never wanted to be in.

I couldn’t say it enough. Have your babies checked as early as possibly. Sophias case was missed by her doctor despite red flags that we now know of. Her case could have been avoided with early detection. Check your babies. Tell your friends and their friends to check their babies.

The I’m a HIPpy Organization works with a team of medical professionals that are passionate about working on children’s hip health, Hip Displaysia and early detection. This weekend is their National Day of Movement & fundraiser and out of immense support of the cause, I see an opportunity to give back.

Due to medical issues, my little here hasn’t been at school since March and is starting school today in a wheelchair. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t absolutely terrified!

Hoping the kids are kind to her and understanding and of her situation. Seeing this smile sure makes it’s a lot easier to be calm and hopeful 🍎

Textile waste is a global pandemic and destroying shorelines of countries all over the world. The sad reality of this fact along with my deep love of the 1990’s makes transforming Vintage bedsheets into wearable and keepsake items that are truly one of a kind!
Nostalgia is meaningful word to me and I love the idea of brining all those good childhood feelings back to a mom who may have owned a sheet like this back when they were little or even had a friend who did only to see it worn by their own child! I’ve personally sourced Little Mermaid sheets that my cousin had growing up and I have really special memories attached to sleepovers there growing up so I plan on making dresses for my girls!
